As a Nebraska-based creative director, I’ve spent my career creating unexpected work from an unexpected place. Whether it’s making a railroad founded by Abraham Lincoln relevant in today’s world, transforming a tired CPG company or helping one of the nation’s top-performing restaurants find its voice, I’ve had the privilege to lead creative teams and client partners to not only compete on a national stage, but to win. And along the way I helped an agency grow from hyper-local to National Small Agency of the Year.

Together we’ve produced historic results for the companies we’ve partnered with. Our work has been highly recognized, winning hundreds of AdFed awards and regularly appearing in the top shows and annuals. It also occasionally shows up crazy places like international art museums and even hanging on the White House Christmas tree.

As passionate as I am about advertising, strategy and the creative arts, through the years I’ve drawn inspiration and energy from a range of rando endeavors.

In a former life, I was a wannabe/almostwas rockstar when my college garage band was signed to a major label. We put a few albums out, had a top 20 CMJ hit and were featured in Rolling Stone. We toured extensively across North America, and throughout Europe with Sheryl Crow. Several years ago, I reacquired the music bug and started a songwriting duo turned recording and weekend warrior band coming soon to a dive bar near you.

In yet another life, I had my first real exposure to the value of teamwork when a little after a year of swimming competitively, my relay and I were named H.S. All-American and held the school record for 29 years. I then followed in my father’s footsteps and swam Division 1 for the mighty Nebraska Cornhuskers and was a member of three Big 8 Championship teams.

And before that, I was just a dumb kid with wacked-out ideas wondering what I wanted to do when I grow up.
At least some things never change.
